The subject matter of the invention is a storage system for radioactive materials, comprising: a capsule or canister containing radioactive materials; an outer container housing the said canister; and a ventilation system provided with air inlets and outlets configured in the container to ensure helical upward ventilation, by convection, inside the container and around the said canister.
The invention also includes a specific canister, configured by a continuous succession of materials, expressly arranged to optimize the shielding efficiency against gamma and neutron radiation.
This invention is applicable in the sector dedicated to the storage of radioactive waste, e.g. from nuclear power plants, such as radioactive wastes, e.g. from nuclear power plants, such as: spent fuel, activated materials or others that can be considered as a source of radioactive emission.
